Tips to consider before you build an Attic Ladder
The sole purpose of installing an attic ladder is, of course, getting in and out of the attic. However, there are several point to consider before you start building Attic staircase with leftover wood or steel from the latest home improvement project you're done.
The first consideration is where the attic is that you want to install from the stairs. Is it out in the garage or in the House? You have an attic open, or you must have an opening for the stairs? There are two things you must determine before you buy. You must have the dimensions of your House to check and compare that with the dimensions of the attic ladder that you intend to buy.
Consider the distance from the ceiling to the floor and the dimensions of the opening of the attic. It is much easier if you match the two before buying so you're not wasting time doing additional cutting and measuring.
Make sure there is enough space around the area where the bottom of the attic pull-down ladder would be so that there is plenty of room for you and anything that you can wear the up and down stairs.
Also consider the total weight of the pull-down stairs. In general, the more weight you up the ladder, the heavier weight you should buy. Also, the more a ladder weighs, the more likely the firmer and, therefore, the safer it is.
Finally, check the main room. If you have a bunch of deliveries to the attic, is the last thing that you want to bang your head on the ceiling on the road.
