Vinyl Flooring Made Easy

Are you a do it yourselfer and would like to install your own vinyl floor, there is an easy way, especially if the subsurface plywood under the existing floors.

First, remove the trim associated with the baseboard on the ancient floors and the toilet. Instead of removing the old floors, just Install "multiplex as an overlay to the right over the top. The overlay can be easily fastened with screws. This saves countless hours of prep work at removing the existing floors and then cleaning the surface to accept the new flooring.

Of course, should the background solid and in good condition. Make sure that the screw heads are at least flush with plywood surface but not sunk to break the top laminate. Mounting the new vinyl is the hardest part but the simple use a kraft paper that can be reduced to a pattern and then pasted together to a form template for the real thing.

Once you are happy with the way the kraft paper fits are, set it on the vinyl, copy the list and your savings. Now you are ready to spread the glue. Recorded the vinyl on the floor before you begin. Now roll behind about halfway it and spread the glue with a notched Trowel (usually 1/16 "). The vinyl roll back in place and then fill in the other half the same way.

Use your hands smooth above the best that you can. Don't worry if some bubbles appears. This simply be caused by gas escaped from the chemical reaction in the adhesive and must be removed in 24 hours., but if not, wait another 24 hours. and then use a small needle to pierce the bubble and the air to escape. Now resetting your toilet and install the trim. Job well done.

Another bit of advice-Vinyl Flooring comes in 6 ft and 12 ft widths. If your dimensions more than 6 ft, seriously consider the purchase of vinyl that is 12 feet wide. You pay a premium, but there are benefits:

No precise alignment and cutting the two pieces being joined.
No chance of possible blank spaces in the seam so that the penetration of moisture
Finally, seams sometimes tend to yellow with age even after using a proper seam sealer.
